RenoInGR
RenoInGR is a LIFE co-funded project that aims to accelerate energy renovation in Greece’s public building sector by establishing a scalable, hybrid One-Stop-Shop (OSS) system tailored to municipal needs.
The project addresses the technical complexity, regulatory uncertainty, and financing gaps that often hinder building upgrades. By combining localized support with a robust digital backbone, RenoInGR enables municipalities—particularly those in remote, island, and mountainous regions—to confidently plan and implement sustainable renovation strategies.
Through this model, RenoInGR promotes a replicable and resilient framework for public sector decarbonization, aligned with national and EU climate targets.
Our Strategic Priorities
Tailored Support for Municipalities
RenoInGR provides local authorities with ready-made templates, technical guidelines, and legal advice to overcome project complexity
Focus on Underserved Areas
The project targets municipalities with limited access to expertise, especially in island, mountain, and remote areas
Pilot Implementation
Six municipalities and two regions test the OSS framework in real settings to ensure practical feasibility and flexibility.
Blended Financing Solutions
Innovative tools support municipalities in leveraging mixed funding schemes, combining EU, national, and private sources.
Sustainability & Replication
RenoInGR aims for long-term impact through scalable methods, documentation, and strategies for national roll-out.
From Objectives to Action
Establishment
RenoInGR lays the groundwork for a national One-Stop-Shop (OSS) structure that can sustainably support the energy renovation of public buildings. The focus on small, island, and mountainous municipalities ensures that no region is left behind in the transition to clean energy. The OSS will function as both a physical service and a digital platform tailored to local needs.
Integration
The project brings together technical assessments, financial tools, legal guidance, and procurement support into a unified service framework. This integration aims to simplify the renovation process for municipalities by offering cohesive, step-by-step support aligned with Greek legislation and European standards.
Validation
To ensure its effectiveness, the OSS model will be piloted in six municipalities and two regions with diverse geographic and socio-economic profiles. Through the delivery of technical designs and tender documents for at least 60 buildings, the pilots will test the OSS under real-world conditions and provide data for iterative improvement.
Awareness
RenoInGR includes a robust outreach campaign to build awareness around the value of building renovation. Through webinars, guides, local events, and direct engagement, the project aims to activate local stakeholders and create a pipeline of 40+ buildings ready for future renovation projects.
Replication
The OSS is not designed as a one-off intervention. RenoInGR includes dedicated activities to ensure its scalability—starting with a replication strategy for Cyprus and a Mediterranean roadmap. These actions aim to prepare the ground for broader uptake in similar regional contexts.
Communication
Effective knowledge sharing is key to impact. RenoInGR will communicate its results through EU-wide workshops, policy briefs, and strategic networks. The goal is to inspire similar initiatives and contribute to a shared learning ecosystem on public sector renovation.
